But as special interests and super PACs tilt the scales of influence in our elections, taxpayers have lost their voice in our nation’s capital. That’s why we're supporting a fresh idea to amplify the voice of everyday Americans in our democracy: The small donor tax credit.

A small donor tax credit would provide taxpayers the opportunity to direct the first $100 of their tax bill to the candidate or party of their choice. Each taxpayer would receive up to a $100 credit for making a contribution of the same amount to a campaign they support. That kind of empowerment would give millions of everyday Americans a chance to make their voices heard in our democracy at no cost to them.

Last Congress, members of both parties introduced small donor tax credit legislation. As voters this year focus new attention on the issue of money in politics, supporting a small donor tax credit is an opportunity to stand with your constituents and break congressional gridlock.
